The Rocking Horse Nursery is run by a professionally qualified Manager, Audrey Willoughby, who has completed a BA in Early Childhood Studies, and achieved her Early Years Professional Status (EYPS), the Gold Standard for those working with children under the age of 5. Audrey has over 30 years' experience in Nursery Management and skilled childcare.
Both the Nursery Manager (EYP) and Deputy Manager (QTS) are highly qualified in all aspects of Nursery Management, Child Education and Development, Advanced Child Protection, Child Health, First Aid, Special Needs, Communication Skills and Partnerships with Parents.
Our caring, dedicated and exuberant staff team consists of Nursery Nurses / Teachers who are all qualified to NNEB/ NVQ Level 2/ 3 / Level 4 / Degree / Master’s Degree / Early Years Professional Status / Qualified Teacher Status or are working towards these awards or due to enrol within three months of starting with us. We are proud of the fact that 80% of our staff are university graduates.
Staff knowledge and training is of paramount importance and the Nursery is committed to an ongoing professional staff development programme to ensure that we are continually up-to-date with Childcare and Management issues and any changes in legislation. All our staff are trained in Paediatric First Aid, Child Protection, Fire safety, and Food Hygiene.
The Nursery endeavours to attain much higher staffing ratios than those stipulated by statutory requirements with the Manager and Deputy regarded as supernumerary.
To ensure Continuity of Care all children are allocated a Key Worker. Each Key Worker has special responsibilities for a child's continued care, welfare and development.
